We call upon States to step up multilateral efforts and lead a truly global response.
We call for a global allocation framework that puts humanity at the center.
It is in our common interest to ensure that priority in access to vaccine at a global level is given to those at a higher risk of infection and/or developing serious disease
In an open letter on universal access to COVID-19 vaccines, the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA) and other NGO consortia, along with the Civil Society Action Committee, are calling on States to ensure that all people worldwide, without distinction of any kind, have access to an effective COVID-19 vaccine in a timely manner.
The letter, sent on February 8, 2021 and addressed to the Permanent Missions in Geneva and to the United Nations Secretary General Office, focuses on universal access to COVID-19 vaccine and calls upon States to
- Step up multilateral efforts and lead a truly global response to the pandemic.
- Develop a global allocation framework that puts humanity at the center; prioritising those at higher risk of infection and/or developing serious disease.
- Strengthen the collaboration between States, pharmaceutical companies and all other private actors in the supply and production chain to rapidly step up the production of vaccines’ and at a price affordable for all.
