As part of the preparation process towards the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF), Regional Migration Review Forums (RMRFs) present an opportunity for Member States and stakeholders to review regional progress of GCM implementation, including for the objectives set out in the Progress Declaration and to develop upon key findings and recommendations to inform the IMRFs.
The second round of Regional Reviews started on 11 March 2024 with the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) review in Geneva, Switzerland. This round of Regional Reviews will build upon the first round which took place in 2020-2021 and the outcomes of the first IMRF which took place from 17-20 May 2022 in New York, United States of America.
In the lead-up to the respective Regional Reviews, AC members take part in preparatory meetings and consultations towards Multistakeholder Hearings that happen before the regional Intergovernmental Conferences. During the Intergovernmental Conferences, civil society rapporteurs and representatives have the opportunity to relay the key messages, action points, and objective-specific recommendations that emerged from self-organised consultations to Member States and other stakeholders (see the Summary Report from the 2024 UNECE multistakeholder consultations here).
Below is the schedule for the second round of Regional Reviews (please note that the specific dates of each review will be updated as informed by the UNNM):
